This is a much debated topic, and I'm sure that if you did a search you would find a thread about it. Anyway, I'm not going to run you down anymore than that...
Here's one thing. If iBooks get the Yonah in January, (like the 'highly reliable sources' claim), then they would beat the current powerbooks. This is because the Yonah chip in January will only be dual-core, it will be Q2 when the single core comes out. Thus, Apple would have to introduce both intel iBooks and Powerbooks in January. But another way to look at it is, what if the iBooks got Dothan (the predecessor to Yonah). This is single-core. Then Apple could announce Dual-core Yonah Powerbooks in Q2 when the single-core Yonahs come out. THe iBooks would pick up the singles, the Powerbooks the doubles. That would set them apart, without making the iBook overlap the Powerbook for a couple months. |
