So this morning I plug in my Macbook Pro and after 10 minutes or so my laptop completely powers off.

After the moment of "What did I do or touch?" had passed I reached over to disconnect the power supply, as I thought it could not be functioning, and the battery was simply dead. when I touched the cord it was very hot to the touch.

Here is were it gets interesting. I power my laptop back on and the fan continuously runs, the battery will not charge at all (even with other chargers), and the time display displays an error message every time I power the pc back on (something like "your time is set to January 1, 20?? and this may cause some of your programs to malfunction).

Did I just fry it and if so is there anything to be done?
I don't mind sending it in to Apple but I am in China now with my wife and that would be a long and tedious process.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you run recovery and do a wipe and re-install osx? Is your data backed up?
