this is my first post, and if it is in the wrong spot, i apologize.

i have an ibook running on tiger. last week i saw that there was garbage in my trash can so i clicked and said "empty trash" and then it said it was deleting 1500something files, i realized it was deleting all my music. i never put my music file in the trash can and i have no idea why it did this. then today i had moved a file into the trash that i wanted deleted and hit empty trash again, and i lost all the music i had just put back on my computer. i have no idea what is causing the music to be "magically" added to my trash bin. does anyone have an explanation or advice?

In iTunes go to preferences and look to see where your Music directory is located.

Somebody could be playing a mean prank and having everything defaulted to the trash

in iTunes it says my directory is like this:
HD, music, itunes, itunes music folder. so they are stored in the main music file on the HD.

if my music is defaulted is there a way to check that and fix it? or should i just call up Apple and be like, "what's going on?"

I have no ideas other than somebody playing a prank, so I would call up Apple I guess

I suppose it could be an Applescript doing it. I don't know much about them, but they can be triggered automagically, so all I can advise is to read up on them in mac help, figure out a way to search for them on your computer (a common file extension? a common folder?).

There is also something called folder actions. Again don't know much about that, so read up on it in mac help and see if that could have something to do with it.
