so i just got my macbook pro yesterday and I've finally got it all set up and running and one thing i noticed how the remaining time meter right next to the battery icon seems to change from 1 hour and 23 minutes to 2 hours and 14 minutes and such. is this normal? i already did the whole drain the battery completely and then fully charge it

Hello and welcome!

It really depends on what you'e doing with it. It's normal for it to jump around quite a bit, but it sounds like your total life is a little low for a new MBP. What all do you have running when you notice it jumping around like that?

Take care,
Code

So it's normal for it to change depending on what I'm doing? And I was just saying those times as examples. Last night I used it while watching a movie and it stated 6:30 so I think thats pretty decent for a laptop. And thanks I just joined last night and hope to talk to fellow Mac heads

Yep. That's normal. If you are doing something very resource heavy battery life is going to drop much faster than just writing something in text edit.
