This is so vague and ill-defined a question there's really no way to give you a specific answer.
Broadly speaking, more RAM is always better. Whether it would be cost-effective for YOU is another question altogether and requires a huge amount more information from you. |

I do have one question though, is it only the iMac that can support up to 16GB ram or can the newest MacBook pro also support that much? |

Sorry I was actually mistaken. I had installed the 8 GB ram into a different model that I had. 2009 intel core 2 duo model. Still have the 4 GB 1333 MHz in the 2011.
