What affect will upgrading my RAM have on the performance on my 13inch early 2011 MBP, is it worth it?

Any feedback would be appreciated

This is so vague and ill-defined a question there's really no way to give you a specific answer.

Broadly speaking, more RAM is always better. Whether it would be cost-effective for YOU is another question altogether and requires a huge amount more information from you.

Adding memory to your 13" MBP will benefit you in two ways. (Assuming you add 4 GB to up the total to 8 GB)

1. Somewhat faster performance depending on what you're running.

2. The real benefit is in the amount of memory that the Intel HD 3000 will borrow from the system. When 4 GB is installed, it will borrow 384 MB, however, when 8 GB is installed it will borrow up to 512 MB. The result is more graphics memory for better graphics performance.

I have the same MBP early 2011 13" 2.3GHz i5 8GB 750GB 7200rpm HDD. Ram has increased speed a bit but then again I never really do any "heavy" work. My original ram was 4GB 1333MHz and now I have 8GB 1067MHz. Hope this helps just a little bit.

I do have one question though, is it only the iMac that can support up to 16GB ram or can the newest MacBook pro also support that much?

Why did you put slower memory in your machine than what's called for? You've degraded the performance by using 1067 instead of the called for 1333 MHz modules.

Sorry I was actually mistaken. I had installed the 8 GB ram into a different model that I had. 2009 intel core 2 duo model. Still have the 4 GB 1333 MHz in the 2011.
