So I just bought a MacBook Pro 15" I love it. I have one question about it. In the first MacBooks (PowerBooks and so on). Mainly the White Macs laptops, after a while the keys would press on the screen and the keys would etch into the screen. Does this happen now with the New MacBooks? Or does it not.
This also leeds into another question, do I need a key protector?
QUOTE Thanks

No issue with key images pressed in the screen perhaps because I have had a clear soft plastic protector on the keyboard from day one. Amazon has them. No worries ever about spilling liquids on the keyboard and frying the logic board.

i already have a key protector but it hinders my typing skills. I slide to the key instead of lifting my finger fully off the key

I've got an 08 mbp and an 11, and haven't noticed anything etched into the screen. Both are matte as well, so no glass over the panel.

I use a protector from RadTech ($14) that I put on the keyboard when I put it in a bag. Also, don't set anything on the computer when it is closed or put it in too tight a bag when traveling. It is not something that stays on when typing, it is there only to be between the keys and the screen.
