iBook Battery and iPod issues....

I own a 14" iBook which I just purchased about a month ago. I've never had a problem with it until last night.

Yesterday, I bought a 30 gig iPod, which charges through the USB (2.0) port on the iBook. Ever since charging the iPod this way, my battery level indicator on the iBook has refused to display higher than 94% charged, regardless of energy savings settings. I have the battery setting set to "Better Battery Life," and the power adapter setting set to "Better Energy Savings." Even so, the power indicator light on the power adapter shines green, which usually indicates a 98%-99% charge when it is plugged in.

The iPod does not come with any other means of charging, so unless there is a charging stand available for it, I'm going to have to keep using this method, and I don't want to kill my iBook battery doing it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Unplug the iBook from the wall, drain the battery by using the laptop, charging the iPod whatever you feel like, when the battery gets to the point where it puts the laptop in sleep mode, charge it up until you see the green light, you should be back at 100%. It isn't anything you need to worry about it, the battery just needs to be recalibrated.

Also you can purchase a regular power adapter for the iPod

Don't forget to use the new User Reputation System

a quick way to kill the battery if you dont have patience is to fire up an online game over WiFi

learned that the hard way...

I bought a Logitech mm50 speaker set which charges the iPod while it's docked. I already had the speakers, I just didn't know that they charged the device while docked. In the meantime, I've kept busy on this thing, trying to run the battery down. It says it's at 14% now. How low does it have to go before it puts the machine to sleep?

Just for future reference, this drain + full charge should be done atleast once a month to maintain a good battery life.
