One way to circumvent this issue...is don't let the battery run all the way down till it automatically shuts off.
Plug it in BEFORE it shuts down due to lack of battery power.![]() As far as the question. Maybe the MacBook Pro's "SMC"...gets "confused" when the computer has to shut off due to the lack of battery power.
