Hi,

I got my new macbookpro less than a month ago, its a late 2011 with an i5 processor,
But I still think that my last macbook mid 2010 was better.
This is my first pro and I think its not that fast although it has an i5 I don’t know if its caz of the RAM (4GB) but I feel that its slower than it should be.

until recently, my mac temp. reaches 90C degree! and not once but more than once.

What does that mean...?

Have I done something wrong!

The first time I turned it on I transferred my data from my TimeMachine.
should I not transfer from a macbook to a macbookpro?

Ask me anything if I did not write enough info

Thank you,

I would take a bomb, but I can’t stand the noise.

I have found the same thing with my Early 2011, As far as I can tell from the help I got, you will need an upgraded HD and double the ram.

The temp I didn't get an answer to, other than "you sacrifice ventilation for slimness" and that 90 is not something to worry about. Use it on a flat surface and it seems to go down a few degrees, even on a book on your lap should help.

Get to spending!

90°C is pretty warm/hot...but those temps have been reported before.

To get that warm...you're probably doing some pretty demanding stuff...and if you're using the computer in a warm/hot environment...that will also increase the laptops temps. You also have to be sure that airflow to the computer is not inhibited.

If this was an older computer...I would also mention dirt/fuzz can clog things up. But since this is a newer computer...I'm assuming this isn't a problem yet.

If the laptop truly gets too hot (beyond it's operational tolerances)...it will safely shut itself off.

I knew you were going to say that!

Folks many times claim that what they're doing is not very demanding...but to get to 90°C...you got to be doing something demanding! There are DEFINITELY things you can do while using Safari that can be VERY demanding!

If you truly are not doing anything very demanding...then your computer:

- is not getting enough cooling air
- is dirty
- is defective
- is being operated in a very warm environment

Or a combination of the above.

But I'm betting you're doing something quite demanding...and don't realize it! A laptop/notebook computer doesn't get to 90°C just sitting there "looking pretty"!

Its usually about 52C but just in a blink it goes to 88C

I don’t know if opening Facebook and gmail takes all that processing power but when it goes up in temp I see that windowsServer and/or web something (I forgot what it was) are more than 90% in CPU „I saw it in activity monitor“
What do you think

I would take a bomb, but I can’t stand the noise.

Many times what causes the temperatures to "spike" (or increase quickly) is when the video/graphics see's a sudden increase in demand. The internet is full of web pages that require good/great graphics hardware.

For example (just an example...this doesn't mean this is what you do)...watch a You Tube video for just a couple minutes...the temp of the laptop will increase very quickly...and the laptop's fans will "kick" into "high-gear".

Then start doing multiple tasks on a laptop...and that just adds more to the overall demand that the laptop is asked to deal with. If you've got 90°C temps...you're doing something demanding...even if you think what you're doing isn't demanding!

Does the average computer user even know what is...and is not...demanding for a computer??...I say not!

I think the average computer user should be able to use a high end laptop for daily activities without worrying about the temperature Fancy websites or not!

Are you using your MBP on a desk/table/flat surface or on your lap/soft squishy surface?

That can make a big difference also, just the surface that it is sitting on.
