My brother gave me his practically new 13' MacBook Pro, he said if I can fix it I can have it. Asked him what's wrong with it, he said "No idea." Open it up obvious water damage, pretty noticeable, and seems like it's mostly contained to the top right areas of the logic board. Think I should drop the ~$500 to get a new logic board and replace? Already taken the current one and put it back together again seems pretty strait forward? Strange thing it seems like most of the damage is on the bottom side of the board, I don't know how he could of gotten water on to the bottom side only. Any reputable places to buy the part? Think I should have someone else do it? I'm most likely going to buy it off ebay, which seems to be running ~$500. Part Number: 661-5559 BTW.

Any advice would be great thanks!

Normally I'd say yes - that is, if you didn't find obvious signs of liquid damage. Once you're talking about liquid damage, all bets are off. You could easily go on a wild goose chase of replacing very expensive components, only to find that you've exceeded the value of the machine.

If you are absolutely certain that only the logic board is impacted, go for it. But if the keyboard/optical drive/HDD/ancillary circuit boards/battery show any signs of intrusion, forget it.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
