adobe download frustration

Hi, I just purchased a new macbook pro and can't play any videos.It keeps asking me to download the latest versions of adobe. I have done this six times. still no success, I have also tried to uninstall old versions. any advice is appreciated

What browser are you using? Did you restart your browser after installing the Flash plugin and did you also try restarting your MBP?

Did you download from Adobe's site or were you simply prompted to start n installation by visiting the site, ie did the installer kick in without first directing you to Adobe
