Programs booting up on screen at startup
How can I get my programs to stop booting up on screen, every time I start my system, It's a Mac Book Pro Lion OS.

Just can't seem to find the place to stop them.

    Welcome to the forum.

This might do the trick for you. If it doesn't post back and we can probably find an answer.

The next time you shut down your Mac look carefully at the dialog box that appears. If the option that says something like "Reopen windows on login " is checked uncheck it.

That did it I never noticed that small box to be unchecked.
Thanks very much for the help.

    Programs loading at start up
That works for me too, but I have to uncheck the box every time I switch off.
Is there a default I can set to leave the box unchecked automatically?

No, not without third party software. TinkerTool version 2 has the ability to lock (not resume) any application in Lion.
