Hi All,

I'm new to MF (just a reader previously) and on my second MBP.
My first was a late 2007 model 3.1 from memory.

Anyway, the new one is a MBP late 2011 Hi-spec with upgrades
Processor up to 2.5 GHz (i7) / Memory up to 8 GB / plus Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen.

It's a lil' beaut'.

However, I did not receive back-up/install OS Lion discs.....? My old one was preloaded - as this one is - but still had the install discs.

Is this the way now - no install discs?

Blaz

Congrats and welcome!

Yep, no discs are needed with Internet Recovery and the Mac App Store. New Macs no longer ship with system discs.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

That is correct...no install discs. OS 10.7 is Apples first downloadable OS version...but you can buy it on a USB stick:

OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive - Apple Store (Australia)

You can (and should) make a 10.7 boot disk (download Lion & make a boot disk):
