Opinion on used Macbook Please!!

Hi I am new to Mac. I have found a used macbook....Apple Macbook with a 2GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, and 160GB hard drive...would anyone be able to tell me if this Macbook is too old to be useful or would it work nicely until I can upgrade to a Macbook Pro? Thank you

Just to be 100% clear...is this a "Core Duo" or Core 2 Duo" MacBook?...because Apple did make both.

Yes it is a VERY big deal...since if it's NOT a Core 2 Duo...then you cannot the latest Mac OS 10.7 Lion.

p.s. If the price is right...you would be able to run OS 10.6 (which still works great)...and this computer would probably serve you very well till you're able to upgrade to a MacBook Pro.

thank you...it is the Core Duo and the owner says he has 10.6 running on it already. He is asking $350...doesnt seem way out of line then...would I have any software conflicts etc.?

If it is in good shape you should be good to go. Make sure the seller includes the Snow Leopard OS disk, as that is an additional $29 expense if/when you need to do any maintenance on your MacBook.

$350 is not bad. I would try to get it for less if it were me.
