My beloved Macbook Pro is no longer reading anything I insert into the USB port. My memory card reader, external terabyte, flash drive, nothing. It was fine yesterday! I went into Disc Utility and nothing is showing up in there when the device is plugged in. Th device itself is on, lights blinking, so I don't think any of my devices are corrupt. Please help!

90% or more folks posting threads on Mac-Forums need help. If 90% of the threads had the title "Help!!"...don't you think that would be sort of confusing??

A more descriptive title is beneficial to you & Mac-Forums.

As to your question. I'm pretty sure your MacBook Pro has more than 1 USB port...are you saying all the USB ports are not working...or just one?

Thanks for kindly suggesting advice, I did change the title.

I have 2 USB ports and neither is working. I restarted the computer as well.

Thanks for the better title. FYI...you spelled "USB" in the title correction as "USN".

Did anything happen to this computer before the USB ports stopped working?...such as:

- a liquid spill?
- computer got dropped?
- cat walked all over the keyboard?
- tried installing software & it didn't finish?
- do you have any peripheral devices normally plugged into the computer?
- any sort of electrical storm activity or power surges?
- etc.

I plugged in an external hard drive I haven't used in a few months and the computer never read it, so I unplugged it thinking the hard drive was shot.
