partitioning hd to run fresh install of OSX-> keep apps

I partitioned my hard drive to hold the apps I want to keep... unfortunately I forgot what partition i put them in. Is there a way I can find out? Also, when I reinstall OSX and use disk utility to wipe the partition with the old OSX, will the old programs be able to mate back with the new OSX? I am a little confused, thanks for clearing this up.

OSX I will be installing is snow leopard on 2.16 ghz mbp
