Since I got my 13" white Macbook on saturday I have been doing a ton of mods and have been wondering if there is any other mods I can do to imoprove the performance of my computer or even change the appearance slightly. here are my current specs...

13" White Macbook
2ghz intel Core Duo processor
2gb G Skill RAM
320gb Seagate HDD (running Snow Leopard)
modded light up Apple logo (now glows purple)

I was thinking of possibly doing a Logic board upgrade to Core Duo 2 (gotta call apple to make sure that it's possible) and maybe a black keyboard swap. Any other Ideas?

Your "core duo" MacBook is worth about $325-$350.

A fully functional 2.0ghz core 2 duo MacBook can be had for around $350-$400 (if you shop wisely)...and a logic board from this computer will probably sell for at least a couple hundred bucks (if not more).

So is it worth spending somewhere around $250 bucks to upgrade the logic board in a computer that's worth $325-$350??

Although it may be possible...upgrading the logic board to a core 2 duo (which would require a whole different logic board)...financially would not work out.

Well, being that I'm just a freshman in highschool don't need a $1.5k computer to satisfy my needs. This computer was intended to be a project and i only got it because i got a good deal on it. Also, $250 especially during the school year when I can't work is much easier(though it's still hard) to come by then $400. And the extra money i save I can put towards a car which is higher on my priority list than buying a new macbook. So from that viewpoint the logic board swap would be the cheapest option, espicially if i can find a macbook with a dead screen or something that I can get parts other than the logic board out of so i can easily replace anything that breaks. Because I can't afford nor justify the purchase of a new MacBook pro at this time or even afford a used one (got this in a trade) I want to use the money that I can put towards a computer in improving the my MacBook which is a good starting platform for modification on as small a budget as possible (if i bought a new logic board I would have only spent like $200 on the whole project including the mods i have already done and aquiring the computer)

logic boards are, in general, not upgradable. especially between product lines.

I understand that, but the Core Duo 2 was an optional upgrade on this model with the same chassis etc. With that in mind the only difference (theoretically) between my computer and the Core Duo 2 model is the logic board itself. I do however see where issues could arise with plug compatibility etc. which is why I'm going to call Apple in a few days to ask them about that stuff.
