Just poking around in activity monitor and noticed that the process kernel_task is using up 450 odd MB's of RAM. I know that the kernel_task is pretty important but thats as far as my knowledge goes, all i was wondering is is this a usual amount of RAM for it to be using up.
cheers

350 MB for me with 10.6.8 - maybe 10.7 uses more?
