Files not saving in any programme on P'book

I was deleting items for a sell on, but may have deleted a folder by mistake. Can anyone help? I have a 15" Powerbook from 2004, 1.67 Ghz, 768 MB RAM, 60 GB HD, running OSX 10.3.9 Panther. Incidentally, this hasn't been running web content for a while as well. I would think that it needs an upgrade to 10.4 Tiger before this can happen....
