Question Music while powerbook is closed

I was wondering if there is a way that when you close the powerbook it doesn't go to sleep... music for example will keep playing through speakers even though the powerbook is closed... Thanks

Yes, clamshell mode. I will not say much more because I don't want to contribute to the abuse of your powerbook. I would highly recommend not doing that. I think the powerbook is more equipped than the ibook to do that but I still think it is bad for any monitor.

Yeah, you want to try to avoid preventing your powerbook from sleeping, when it is closed like sursuciofla said. It might cause issues down the road. However, you could just lower the brightness of the moniter, until the monitor goes off. It's the cheap man version, I guess.

yea, like the above posters said...there is a program that can do this but it is not necessarily great for your 'book. the reason is that a significant amount of heat is lost through the keyboard and just goes right into the air and you dont even notice. when you close your 'book it will still try to lose that heat through the keyboard but it will be going directly into your LCD screen.

While i am sure that there are cases where nothing happens to the screen or other components, i am also sure that there are also instances where it may mess up the LCD or other components of the 'book by getting too hot.

staying on the side of caution i'd follow iWhat's advice and either turn down the brighness or set your screen to go off after a short period of inactivity.

PowerBooks can run just fine with the lid closed. (Yes, there's an official Apple guide to it. And another. And this other one, too. There's also Sleepless which will do it without a USB device.

Attempting to do this to an iBook (with a plastic case that cannot dissipate heat) may cause damage.
