I love my 2004 G4. It has been the steam engine that could do just about anything.
It wouldn't boot. The Apple guys got it to boot one time. Not two times. They think I need a new hard drive. (They had worked on it for 6 hours.)
Problem is, it is a "vintage machine" and they cannot order parts.
They said there is a way to get after market parts.
They say it is not worth fixing. So I lose.
Anyone know the black market on Mac stuff?
Thanks. Sorry, no icon.

Just buy a new HD. It should take any HD, correct? You don't need a HD from another G4 to get it to work.

That unit will require a parallel hard drive (PATA/ATA), rather than the Serial ATA (SATA) drives current systems use. You didn't indicate whether it was a desktop or laptop, but either way, drives should be available from OtherWorld Computing. Let them know what model you have and they'll make sure you get the right drive. If you need instructions to replace it, check out iFixit.com.

Simple, just get a new HD. You didn't mention exactly what model of G4 you have, but finding a hard drive shouldn't be that difficult.
