So I picked up my 667mhz/512mb/30gb 15" G4 Powerbook last week, and I found that on a full charge, I'm only getting about a half-hour of life from my battery. Is this normal or is my battery dying?
QUOTE Thanks

Yeah, I did buy it used and I'm going back to the place I got it because I have a 90day parts/labour warranty on everything, and a 30day battery warranty. I put in a burnt copy of OS X 10.4 Tiger and it kept spitting hte DVD out, but worked in my buddy's ibook no problem, so I think the dvd/cd-rw drive might be toast also. I don't get it though because I've watched DVD movies from it many times without problems.. I currently have OS X 10.2.8 on it, but am upgrading to Tiger tonight.

Did you check your power settings? But that still is low for a battery even at best performence.

Yeah I have, I typically have it set for longest battery life and I get about 33 minutes off a full charge. Regardless, I'm taking it back because of the battery, and I think my cd-rw/dvd combo isn't working all the time, and the spec sheet said it had a 40gb, but only came with a 30gb HDD.

so I got a new battery for it, wow, I get almost 4 hours on a full charge! And to think, that if I had to order a new battery from apple, it'd cost me $160CDN, and I got it for free

I got the new PB about 2 weeks ago. 2 days ago I have only been getting 1 and a half hours on a full charge. This is just running simple programs, like Safari and AIM. I did the battery reset that Apple told me to do. This is the 15 inch model. Also, my computer seems very hot, sometimes almost too hot to touch. What are ideal temps for the PB. Any suggestions?
