Hi all, I'm looking for a way (i.e., a product) to prepare my precious and well-loved MacBook Air for life in the field - particularly as part of a paleontological excavation expedition. I need a case that will protect it from dust, fluids, scratches, sand and so on - but still allow me to work on it (which seems to exclude MacTruck or Pelican solutions). Adding a bit (or even quite a lot) of bulk is not really a concern for me; I just want it to be safe.

If Pelican doesn't have anything that will do it for you, not sure you're going to find it.

Maybe buy one of those $300-$500 netbooks and leave the MBA at home.

Or one of these.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

Thought about the netbook option, but I think one of those wouldn't survive even a day. And besides, the whole reason I use Macs is because of their ease of use. Which pretty much scuttles the other option (or Panasonic Toughbooks, for that matter). Besides, at the price of those I could buy four (!) MBA's.

The most realistic option now would be to bring an EOL white Macbook. But I'm amazed that there are so few truly rugged cases for the MBA - everyone seems to go in for manila envelope imitations or bits of old truck.
