Aloha!! I have an older powerbook 1.67 G4 Aluminum that is no longer able to play youtube videos without sketchy jerks and stops...... The unit is in for a new upgraded HDD and it is going to be a great unit after this happens. Is there a way to get a slot loading video card for this unit...??? or an external card of some sort.... any suggestions....? Appreciate any and all advice. mahalos, joe

Internally there are no video card upgrades. The video hardware is soldered onto the logic board...thus not upgradeable.

Although you have the best & the fastest Powerbook G4 ever sold...it's still in the neighborhood of 6+ years old...and just cannot keep up with the video demands of 2011.

Yeah, so I know now...... I saw on another thread that there might be a external card that could utilize my side slot. Any knowledge of that? Guess it is time for an upgrade. Hate to do it just to watch youtube.

Download Camino here: Camino. Download. Releases

Camino is a light weight web browser that plays flash better than any other web browser for these older laptops. Once you have it downloaded, play youtube in the low quality 240p option. It should play fine.

Interesting that you would suggest Camino..... I have a friend who uses it all the time with great success, and he suggested it to me about two years ago.... I loaded it up and it crashed this same laptop that I am having the Drive replaced. It crashed it several times until I dumped it. I think when I get the new HDD in the unit, I will load it up again and see how it works with the new system..... Since in is the 1.67G I should be able to upgrade the OS, I will give it a shot with the mini I have, to see if it will work on it...... The mini is a 1.42G, but it is doing the same thing. Obvious that I need better hardware for sure. I appreciate your reply and thanks again.....
