NO external damage??? I don't think that anyone reading this thread (with the info provided) would EVER come to this conclusion!!! So this info CLEARLY should have been updated long ago...and since there is no external damage...WOW...that makes any theories about what is damaged/broken a LOT more difficult to determine. - Nick - Computer slow, too many "beachballs", read this: Beachballs - Computer seems slower than it used to? This post has now been utterly derailed. I'm not asking about who pays for it. I'm not asking for opinions on where the laptop should or should not be located. Those were questions raised by another poster. Please stop debating them. So, here's the question: the computer won't turn on. I've already done all the obvious things that should make it turn on. It just produces a black screen, not even a ding or a whir. My brother has taken the computer and given it to some 'tech guys' as his work. They want all my passwords. Since the computer won't turn on, I see no reason to give them the passwords. As far as I can tell, they are not apple certified and usually work with pcs. Is there any reason that someone trying to repair this problem would need my passwords? Apple never asked for them when I had laptops repaired before. To me, it sounds like a hardware issue. |

You gave your computer to people who know not Macs and that was not a good thing. You reject people telling you that. sorry.
I told you what I feel the problem is. REad my last post. Hard Drive, but now that it will not turn on at all and the screen is black, no one here can answer what the issue is for sure. I would NOT give out your passwords to any of those people. That is me. Do what you want to do but that is what I suggest. To power on the MBP, they do NOT need a password. If they put in a new Drive, they don't' need your password either as the new drive will not have your passwords till you get it back and restore from your backup. That is all I can do and suggest to help you with the info you provided. Sorry, we are human here and can't predict the damage without seeing the machine. |

Honestly if you had of read the posts instead of trying to have a comeback for EVERY bit of help people tried to give you, you might have seen it. Sorry to come across harsh, but in a forum where people GIVE away there time for free, the help be it helpful or not should be with gratitude. Now to show the answer Quote:

Just saying. Could of saved a lot of time and effort ![]() Cheers Dont forget to use the Reputation System if someone has helped you out !!! I have absolutely no pleasure in the stimulants in which I sometimes so madly indulge. It has not been in the pursuit of pleasure that I have periled life and reputation and reason. It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some strange impending doom .― Edgar Allan Poe |

This was the very point that I was trying to make a couple times in this thread to the OP...that the important question about the passwords was answered multiple times (starting with post #6)...and now we're on post #40!!! - Nick - Computer slow, too many "beachballs", read this: Beachballs - Computer seems slower than it used to?
