I have approximately a 4-5 year old mac book the battery doesn't work so I need to keep it plugged in to run also it has the old leopard OS on it although it still runs very well , should I upgrade and get a new battery and latest OS or should I save and just get a new mac book pro

Well let's see:

Option #1:

- new battery $129
- purchase OS 10.6 $29
- purchase OS 10.7 $29.99

Total = $187.99

Option #2:

New MacBook Pro = $1199-$2499

I know which one I would pick.

I just bought a new battery for $30 shipped for my 2006 macbook. I'm still calibrating it. So far works for about 3 hrs and improving. Time will tell, but hey, only $30.

Get a new battery, it feels like getting a new machine. I updated to snow leopard last year via the boxed set. It's worth it. Let's keep these old macbook's going!

Go buy a mini and keep the old macbook going, that's what I did.

Amazon. Their are a bunch selling around $30. I bought this one for $22 plus around $7 for shipping. It works, my computer recognizes it and fits just fine. My first charge was only 75%, second 78% and my third charge cycle is ongoing. Even if it only stays at 75% for around 3 hours, I'll be happy with it.

Here: It took about 5 days.

If you get one make sure you run it dry, charge, repeat 4 or 5 times. I also use coconut battery. I suggest
you try it.
