Hello,

Actually my issue is that I'm not sure about my macbook pro model neither year of production as I bought it second hand. All I know is that it's a unibody aluminium, dual core 2.66, the model written in back side is a1286 and that it has a battery door.

Actually My battery and optical drive both need to be replaced I have checked many website of spare parts and I get confused because it seem that the A1286 is not enough as model name. I appreciate if someone can guide me to a good website for my purchase and how to be sure that the spare part are for my mackbook. by the I tried ifixit and the optical drive is out of stock.

Thanks

Your machine is a mid 2009 MBP model A1289, Model Identifier MacBook Pro 5,3. With that information, go to Other World Computing and order your parts from them. They also have an 800 number where you can talk to a live person about the parts you need.
