Often Disk Repairs

I've replaced my disk drive with a hard drive, and occasionally when I want to copy large chunks of data it won't do it. I then use disk utility, repair the disk, and all is well. But I have to do this about every other week.

Is the drive dying? Or could reformatting remedy this?

White Macbook 13" Late 2008
