Need help with a mysterious Finder / Word / Preview issue:
I just replaced my trusty 7-year-old powerbook g4 with a new macbook pro 13" with OSX 10.6 on it. My local Apple store migrated all of my files and applications over onto my new macbook. Mysterious problems are now afoot: - when I save a .doc as a .pdf in Word, the newly created .pdf disappears. Word says it was saved, i can name it anything i want and place it anywhere, but when i look for it in finder it is NOWHERE. Like it's just vaporized into thin air. What's up?! - And, when i save a downloaded .doc or .pdf from the internet, it also disappears in the same manner. |

G'day and welcome to the forums.
It does happen some large applications like Office and Adobe software do not migrate at all well. Simply use the install discs and install new versions. Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer! |
