Hey y'all,

My optical drive stopped working and I want to install Microsoft office 2011. Is their a way I can install it without buying a USB external optical drive? I do have an iMac and a pc running windows xp, is their a way I can remotely use either of the 2 computers drive?

If you have two Macs and they both have a firewire port, you can use Target Disk Mode to install Office 2011. The best way though is to buy an inexpensive external optical drive. Amazon and NewEgg both have inexpensive USB optical drives.

You should be able to do the Remote Disc option. Check your System Prefs under the Sharing tab for DVD/CD Sharing. It probably will go quicker in Target Disk Mode though.
