iBook, its tough. 1/8" of solid plastic wrapping it. Plus Im sure its alot easier and cheaper to fix than a PB.

Looks like you have a sweet little G5 IMac too so an ibook is just fine. I wouldn't trust lugging a Powerbook around in my backpack, not for that kind of cash. If you are doing intense stuff your iMac can take care of that and then you can use your ibook for the light stuff. It's rugged and made for the student.

Yeah I vote iBook also. I really like Powerbooks, but if you are talking rugged then the iBook is more rugged then the Powerbook.

There really is not much more insight to add. There is absolutely no disputing that the iBook is waaaaaay more sturdy and rugged than the PowerBook.

I also would agree that the iBook is more sturdy.... But don't let it fool you. As my wife found out.... it still doesn't take much to break it. neye:

Well that would apply to just about any laptop. Some might be a little more durable than others, but it doesn't really take much to break a laptop computer.

For sheer indestructability, I would recommend an IBM ThinkPad. The only problem is that it runs a really lousy OS. :-)

My iBook travels in my bag every day and it's just fine.

Make sure you get a sleeve like the Tucano Second Skin or (my new favorite), a Booq Vyper.

Yeah, ThinkPads are tanks!! I had a ThinkPad 760ED years ago. Man, that thing was tough as nails and practically armor plated, hehe. I dropped it a couple times, cat would knock it off the table, things got dropped on it...but it never so much got a scratch or seem affected in any way. But boy was it heavy...it was only a 12" laptop, but the thing weighed in at over 8 lbs.
