Not sure why but, once i start to use iWeb, temp goes up to around 185F and i can hear the fan speeding up. is this normal...? doesnt seem like iWeb is using that much CPU power...

Are you using Flash? That will definitely drive the temperature up and cause the fans to speed up.

hmm nope.. just having iWeb open and not doing anything to it will still cause it to heat up for some reason?

The term "overheating" is often misused. Overheating would imply that the machine is running warmer than design tolerances. In this case, it is not. If it was, it would turn itself off.

Sometimes applications will require more CPU power and resources, thereby generating more heat. This is perfectly normal. If you want to see what specifically is spiking the CPU, open Activity Monitor (Applications => Utilities) and sort the process list by CPU to see what executable is spiking it.

Also, I would highly recommend getting rid of your application that monitors temps. There's no need to obsess over this, as the fans are thermostatically controlled. This is a trend that started in the PC enthusiast world when overclocking processors, but in a notebook application - particularly where no overclocking is involved (or will ever be involved), it's just a waste of resources and will make you paranoid.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
