My Powerbook G4 finally gave out on me and I'm looking for a new inexpensive lap top. I'll be using this as a media computer for music and watching movies and TV shows. I'll be hooking it up to my TV so I'm pretty much looking for something with an hdmi input and lot's of storage space.

Any ideas on types of computers that fit my expectations? It doesn't necessarily have to be a mac either. My budget is around the $500 range or lower.

Honestly with combination of things you want and the modest budget, you would probably be better off picking up a used Mac Mini to use as a media PC and a used windows laptop.

Of course, I know everything . . . I just can't remember it all at once.

Cheap and inexpensive... go with a PC at $500. Otherwise save for some more money and get a Mac later.

I've seen used Macbooks on Craigslist for $450. If you want to stick with Mac. These are usually the 2006-2007 models, but a heck of an upgrade from a PowerBook G4. Believe me, switching from Mac to PC will give you nothing but headaches.
