Anytime you customize a Mac it will take longer to get it. A stock unit will have to be pulled and built to your specifications, these things will take time, that is only common sense. Keep in mind though, that the ship date is only an estimate, so you could see it shipped sooner.

Customization does take time, but remember the estimate includes a buffer. If apple thinks they will have a book out in a week, they will tell you 10 days just in case. I would go ahead and order it and you may be surprised with less time to wait, or it may take the whole 2 weeks, either way it is well worth it.

like jaster said they will always add time to cover themeselves incase they say a week and it doesn't get there due to some problem so they say 10 days.. all companies do this when it comes to shipping.

It's not all that bad. I ordered my iBook with an 80gb HD on the 20th of Aug. It shipped from China on the 25th and was at my home in MI on the 29th. That covered a weekend also.

My free Mini came in 2 days, but it was shipped from a warehouse in PA.

You didn't say where you live, jkritch, but my iBook took about a week (including a weekend) to get from Taiwan to Chicago.

My gf was laughing at me because I was stalking the shipment on DHL's web site. :-)

No, they don't. And with Monday being a holiday, they won't deliver it until Tuesday.
