Macbook Air HD question

I've recently been deleting some apps I don't use with AppCleaner...my HD space still seems to not be rising. Is there an app that I can use that tells me everything on my HD so I can delete what I don't use?

Also, is there a "correct" way to delete apps from the Macbook App store?

The apps from the app store just as you do other apps.
