Hey,

I have memory usage problem with my MBP mid 09.
I istalled more ram into it and it has now 8 gb of ram... After using some high memory using program like after effects, memory usage stays high also after quitting the program. It stays in about 5 gb even if I quit all programs...

I can see this in the activity monitor. And it is indeed active memory, not inactive memory.

Is this a memory problem or system problem or problem in the program(After effects)??

Thanks,

In Activity Monitor, if you select All Processes from the pull-down at the top, and sort by Real Mem, what's eating up the largest block of RAM? If it's not a system level file, kill it and see if memory usage returns to normal.

There is actually nothing that uses alot of memory. Number 1 on the list is firefox with 143,1 mb of mem usage. Next is kernel task with 115 mb. The all the rest are under 50 mb. So there is nothing thatīll explain the high memory usage that the activity monitor shows me.

Right now it says:

Free: 1.20 GB
Wired: 664.4 MB
Active: 4.64 GB
Inactive: 1.50 GB
Used: 6.8 GB

Is the activity monitors system memory page giving me false readings or is there some mystic thing locking that memory? Cause theres nothing on the processes-window thatīll explain the readings???!!!

Thanks,
