![]() Mac Specs: Intel iMac 20" Core Duo 256mb VRam 115gb SSD 2gb Ram Finally!!!

My son has a 13" unibody aluminum Macbook, the last one before they started including them in the Pro line. He recently (or more correctly I recently) installed VMware and Windows 7 64bit on it and finds it a little slow when running. The spec on VMWare says 4gb at least and 8 would of course be better. How much memory can this machine take? The Apple website says 4gb, but I've gone to a few 3rd party vendors and they say 8gb. Which is it?
I told him to just take it to Tekserve, but he won't get a chance for a while, and it'll cost more. After posting I looked at the specs on my own system and see how old it is getting. I can't believe I bought it in 2006. It's 5 years old, still runs just fine without ever having a single problem. If my kids didn't get their own macbooks I'm sure they'd be complaining about this one. Those 30gb iPods are long gone though. |

I remember the discussions a while back about how much RAM a Macbook could address, and it seems that some--with the right EFI firmware update-- can indeed address 8GB RAM. Here's an article that you can peruse to see if this fits your scenario.
