I just got my first macbook pro last december. Today i plugged in my magsafe power adapter and it shocked me. Literally. I can't remember if i disconected it (after being shocked) from the outlet before connecting it to my mac. Anyway the adapter wasn't charging my mac. i tried connecting the adapter to another outlet and it still didn't work. I assumed from that it died from the shock, but a few minutes later after testing it on the original outlet it started charging my mac. My question is: has this happen to anyone else? And does the mac have a something that prevents the charger from damaging it? Can i get a replacement since i barely got the mac and adapter last december? AND Thank you for looking at my question

dunno if this matter but a word of caution when plugging any electrical device (such as laptops, cellphones, etc...) that needs an adapter to work...
plug first the adapter then plug it in to your device.
the reason... your adapter would serve as breaker from the sudden electrical surge coming from the outlet. this would protect your device from the sudden surge coming from the outlet. sudden surges can cause your devices (such us our precious MACs) to malfunction. hope this helps...

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the power input on the MBP had a fail safe and surge protection mechanism that would cause it to react the way you described. In fact, I'd be surprised if it didn't.

If you charger/adapter seems to be working just fine now - a couple of connects and reconnects - should verify - then I wouldn't worry about it. Very likely the power input protection mechanism kicked in, reacting to a huge voltage transient detected. Everything worked as it should.
