Last week I played my music off my laptop through my tv with an auxilary cable. When I pulled the auxilary cable out, I found out the next day that I could not listen to any music with my headphones beacuse the tip of the auxilary cable is caught inside the audio port.

I brought the laptop into the nearest MacStore for repair, note that the mac is under warranty until November this year. The man told me that the repairman may be able to remove the piece out of the port, otherwise change the audio port.

It has been about 9 days now, I went in this morning to check on the status and the rep told me that the repairman has attempted to get the piece out but it has no success. I asked the rep to ask the repairman what other solution is there, can they just change the audio port so I can get the audio to work on the laptop. The rep came back saying that if the repairman can't get the piece out of the audio port then the only other way is to change the audio port which would require a new logic board and then the rep said it will cost money to get a new logic board and that I may have to buy a new laptop.

WTF?? I have the laptop under warranty! Surely a new logic board would be covered under warranty, and surely you dont need a new logic board to change the audio port.

Also, does anyone has any dealt with a similiar scenario or does anyone know any solutions to this problem that the lame repairman doesn't know.

If so would really appreciate to hear them

If you would have used our search function, you would have received many hits regarding the same problem you have. There are various ways to remove the tip from the jack. Suggest you try whichever works for you.

Regarding your Apple warranty, it does not cover accidental damage (which includes breaking off a tip in the jack). And yes, unfortunately the only way Apple will repair it is by swapping the logic board. Logic boards are the heart of the machine and expensive.
