So, I am trying to learn how to write in C++. I needed to download Xcode, and it's a 3 G file. It's taken over 30 mins to download. Is there anything I can do to enhance the speed of the download? I'm not trying to be inpatient, I just feel that it's taking forever. Is it just because it's a Core Duo and not an i5 or an i7 CPU?

Not just the speed of your machine.... but it's the capability of your connection that really determines how fast you can download something. If you have a slow connection, the download is going to be slow.

Also, cable broadband connections (even fast ones) get bogged down during peak times of the day. Cable companies always deny this but most do not have enough local links to provide an all around constant download speed.

It actually might be on your install discs. I was just reinstalling OS X and noticed it was there under optional software.

Well, we have fairly quick internet.

Our router is a wireless N Gigabite Router. So, it's not like the internet is slow.

BRAIN: What do you mean there is optional software?

I mean - on your original OS install disc - that came with your computer - there might be Xcode on there - and you can just install from the disc. There is on my OS X Snow Leopard install disc. But - from your other thread - it looks like you've already gotten so this is OBE.
