Installing Leopard on 4.11.1

I purchased a Macbook in 2006 with Tiger 10.4.11 Operating System installed on it and it recently crashed and I just installed a new hard drive. My question is, can I install Leopard onto this new hard drive by using one of my friend's extra Leopard install disk which he never used (he was given a second one when his computer crashed that he never needed or used). If I can how do I go about doing this? Should I just install the Leopard or install Tiger first? Thank you...

Install media are specific for the model Mac that they're shipped with. So unless your friend's Mac is the same as yours his spare set of disks won't work.
