Hi guys, I'm a new mac user. Many years with PC, in fact, I still own a desktop and a netbook.

Anyway, my problem is that I can't play .asx extension on my MacBook Pro. I have an account on :: cXn L!ve :: that streams online TV channels from South America.

A typical link to a channel is TN - cXnTV.com

When I click on this link on cxn's website, WMP pops open, a second window opens where I enter my user name and password, and the TV is on. When I click on it on my mac, the screen goes black and nothing happens. The other choice with WMP is to go to "file", "open URL" and manually enter the above link, I then get prompted for my user name and password, and the TV is on. I'm not sure what to do on my mac. I've installed Flip4Mac, but I'm not sure how to open it and how to enter the link in WMV or Quicktime or whatever player my Mac has.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I just tried it and get the same thing. It looks like they may be streaming using a different codec. Since you obviously understand Portuguese, drop them an email and ask.

Worked for me....
It appears because I have flip4mac.

I just noticed that you also have flip4mac.
I'm now wondering if it's because I also have perian installed.

You just clicked on the link and the TV opened? What player is it using? That happens to be a free channel. Please tell me what happens when you click on this one...

TyC Sports - cXnTV.com I'm guessing you'll be prompted to enter an account number.

What am I doing wrong?

It is Spanish. I have asked, they said they don't support Mac. Thanks anyway.

Thanks to 6string, (Thanks, Kane) I found out my Flip4Mac version was outdated. I installed the update and was able to stream the video and sound OK. The other link still won't work but I suspect it's as you say. (Userid and password needed).

And BTW, the reason I thought it was Portuguese is that the first channel it showed was from Brazil.

Try updating your copy of Flip4Mac to the latest. It will also prompt you about installing MS Silverlight - which is OK to install.

Thanks for trying this.

I just installed perian and I can hear it, but I can't see it. I maybe missing a codec of some sort. Where can I download some?

Can you try this link please, the other one was a free channel. This one should prompt you for an account.

TyC Sports - cXnTV.com

Thanks!

Hmmm... both links are working for me!

Obviously, I'm not a member, so I can't log in to get to any of the channels.

Mine works too on my MBP, which I have Flip4Mac on. It doesn't work on my G5, which I don't have F4M on...but it's also older.

Ok, I updated Flip4Mac and I can see and hear that free channel. And login in the website works as well, but with I click on one of the paid channels TyC Sports - cXnTV.com the screen goes white and nothing happens.

The thing is that a small windows is supposed to pop out for me to enter my user name and password, at least that happens on my PC.
