Did you buy it new or used?
Used - there might be issues the seller didn't tell you about.
New - if it persists and normal troubleshooting doesn't solve your problem, take it back and get a new one.

I would start by opening Disk Utility. Verify Permissions. Then Repair Permissions (if applicable). Also Verify Disk.

Don't forget Apple - Support - Search

ok, i called apple today, basically, something went wrong with the iworks install and caused the machine to crash. the rep had me turn the computer off then hold down shift/control/option and hit the power button. this didn't turn the machine on, but i did something. after that he had me power on while holding the left shift key. that basically opened it in safe mode. then i went into utilities and ran the repair disk, then restarted. the machine restarted just fine after that. all this was done w/the osx disc in the computer (don't know if that made a difference).

he told me that if i have any other problems w/the iworks apps to reinstall iworks.
