Whenever I open up my mac book it makes a noise
Whenever I open up my mac book it makes a noise, like a power up sound, but not exactly. It only occurs after the lid has been opened up for a few seconds. Is there anyway I can turn this off?

Without knowing what noise we can't say, but probably not. Normally the fans spin up for a few seconds though.

I wonder if the OP is talking about the superdrive ejecting sound? >_>"

Is it when you turn it on or when you wake it from sleep?
If it is a few seconds after you turn it on then it is more than likely as CrimsonRequiem says the "Superdrive" checking to see if there is a disk in the drive.

    Hope this helps

Three possible solutions for you, since I'm sure you're talking about the whirring noise of the Super drive as it is looking to see if there is a disk inside of it (normal behavior)

    1. Put a CD in it. It will still make a slight noise, but not the same kind or nearly as loud.

    2. Check this out: Apple Releases AirPort Software Update, Firmware Updates Addressing SuperDrive Noise - MacRumors Forums
There were discussions about firmware updates for the Super Drive which solved the noise on wake up issue. However, it will not prevent it from checking for a disk upon start up, which is of course logical.

    3. Sure fire way to get rid of the sound: Buy a MacBook Air.
