How long do the batteries in the new MacBook Pro's generally last also when not being used as a portable machine is it ok to keep your macbook plugged into the mains or will this shorten the life of the battery, thanks guys.

Depends what you mean by "How long do they last":

- total runtime on a single charge
- number of months & years the battery will last

These questions have been asked & answered many many times...have you tried a Mac-Forums site search?
