So i got a new to me Powerbook G4 15' 1.67ghz, 2GB of RAM, Dual Layer DVD-RW, all the bells and whistles. My kid decided to pull it off of the table and it broke the superdrive i bought a replacement a uj-846-c, the exact one that was in it, but instead of burning at 8x like it should it only burns at 2x and then 2.4 after a fresh install. Any ideas as to why it's not burning at full speed?

G'day and welcome to th forums.
Very rarely do these things burn at the advertised speed. Fastest burn speeds often cause failures and drink coasters. Just set it to 'Best' and let it run. Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer! |
