MBP. Multi-touch "rotate" not working in iphoto, instead minimises

So Ive bought a new MBP, the multi-touch feature of rotating photos works when using preview, but does not when using iphoto. In iphoto i can zoom, and scroll through the pictures but when i try to rotate the app minimises on its own.

How can i fix this?
