I need help. My Macbook Pro 17" locks up without warning, usually while I am running a number of programs. Here's some of the info on the actual computer hardware, running Mac OS X 10.6.6
Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,2 Processor Name: Intel Core Duo Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 2 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 667 MHz This has been an ongoing problem for a very long time, probably back to 10.5.5ish. The mouse stops moving without warning, though if I am playing music via itunes, or from the web, to my speakers connected to my airport express, the music continues to play. Otherwise, I lose complete control over saving anything I was working on, other than simply being able to see clearly everything on the screen / for eg, no blue screen, dark screen, nothing - just frozen in a standstill. Using Console, I was able to find the messages to pinpoint what looks to be the problem, but does anyone have an idea of what steps I can take to keep this from continuing to happen? 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5339 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5340 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5341 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5342 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5343 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5344 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5345 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5346 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5347 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5348 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5349 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5350 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5351 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5352 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5353 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5354 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5355 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5356 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5357 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5358 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5359 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5360 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5361 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5362 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5363 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5364 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5365 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5366 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5367 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5368 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5369 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] 5370 1/7/11 10:38:18 PM [0x0-0x3ed3ed].com.apple.iTunes[2310] *** process 2310 exceeded 500 log message per second limit - remaining messages this second discarded *** 1/7/11 10:38:53 PM com.apple.usbmuxd[2308] stopping. 1/7/11 10:38:53 PM com.apple.usbmuxd[2317] usbmuxd-207 built for iTunesTenOne on Oct 19 2010 at 13:50:35, running 32 bit 1/7/11 10:43:38 PM mDNSResponder[18] PenaltyTimeForServer: PenaltyTime negative -27197, (server penaltyTime 1948411873, timenow 1948439070) resetting the penalty 1/7/11 11:05:01 PM kernel npvhash=4095 1/7/11 10:58:38 PM mDNSResponder[18] PenaltyTimeForServer: PenaltyTime negative -158530, (server penaltyTime 1949180547, timenow 1949339077) resetting the penalty 1/7/11 11:05:01 PM kernel PAE enabled 1/7/11 11:05:01 PM kernel Darwin Kernel Version 10.6.0: Wed Nov 10 18:13:17 PST 2010; root:xnu-1504.9.26~3/RELEASE_I386 1/7/11 11:05:01 PM kernel vm_page_bootstrap: 508561 free pages and 15727 wired pages 1/7/11 11:05:01 PM kernel standard timeslicing quantum is 10000 us[/B][/B][/B] Can someone help solve this.
