very aggravating problem -please help

This POS macbook of mine is not connecting to the internet. I know the wifi internet is good as ichat works and system pref says all is green but safari, system update, and itunes all wont connect. WTFFFFF

Mac Specs: Currently 13" Late 2010 MBA, 4GB/128GB; Early 2011 13" MBP, dual core i7 2.7ghz, 4gb ram, 500gb hd

If iChat is working, then you have an internet connection of some sort. If Safari, iTunes and Software Update aren't connecting, then it might be a proxy server, a firewall issue, a bad DNS entry, custom security software that might have been installed... any number of things. The thing is though, if one service is working, then it's most likely not hardware.
