I just bought a new Macbook Pro from Best Buy on 12/23 and it appears to have ILife 10 on it... shouldn't it have 11 on it?

This is what I have heard. It might be on a DVD instead of installed on the machine. Check the BOX with the Reinstall OSX DVd's and see if you see a DVD labeled iLife.

Another user had the same issue and it was on a DVD but not installed.

If not contact Best Buy.

The previous iLife was iLife 09, but anyway, there should be an iLife 11 install disc in the box with your install discs, if not, I would just give Apple a call, and I'm sure they will sort you out!

Edit: Ooooop... Dtravis7 beat me too it with a slightly different response, but the same gist

sorry 09, not 10... thanks for the heads up
i did look in the box before posting and the two discs i have are "applications" and "install DVD"
would it be on the applications disc? there is not an ilife disc of any sort in the box, 09 or 11

Agreed with 6String, Call Apple if the lLife 11 DVD is not there in the box. You will probably get way better service from Apple then BB!

EDIT: if 09 is on the machine, then I would bet 09 would be on the application restore DVD also. If you are sure there is no iLife DVD in the box anywhere, give Apple a call and they will make it right for you.

It could be Best Buy had a Mac that was packed pre iLife 11.

We picked our new MBP up this week (not sure about build or distribution date, it was from MacConnection), and it came with iLife '09 with the iLife '11 included as a disk. It wasn't in the same black folder as the two Apple system disks.

And if BB has had that machine since before the iLife 11 release, the disc will not be there. I have read a couple of places that Apple was charging $20 to get a copy of iLife 11 sent out in that scenario.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

My 13" MBA custom build came with 11 pre-installed at the end of November.

Is it due to them selling the stock they have in store? therefore it could be not the most up-to-date macs?
